Lead Free Pewter Casting Class, learn to cast pewter at home for fun and profits.August 29, 9:00am - 12:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Metal Clay Class By Donald NorrisClass Fee: $110.00Kit Fee: $70.00 Kit will include all pewter to cast the two hummingbirds and one columbine flower, plus one additional sculpture that students can pick from several different molds, and materials for the class. Students do not need to bring anything to the class.
Skill Level: All
This class is open to everyone of skill levels from a complete beginner, Ages 12 and above are welcome.
Make a memory of a life time for you and/or your children! Have fun learning something that is
exciting, educational, and something that most people never get to see or do, cast metal, pewter
sculptures. Students will taught how Don Norris sculptures his sculptures using wax and only an
Exacto knife. There will not be time to sculpt anything during this class. Most sculptures take
days to weeks to sculpt and finish. However, you will have a thorough understanding of how so
that you can begin sculpting at home. Students will also be taught how mold sculptures. We will
pour a small mold so that you will have the knowledge and experience to make your own molds
at home. The different kinds of mold rubbers available will be taught, but you will be amazed
that you can use very available silicone rubber available on Amazon.com that with the
techniques that you will be taught, can be used to cast pewter at 650 degrees Fahrenheit. This
mold rubber is 12 times cheaper than the only mold rubber than is sold for casting metal into.
Students will be taught what metals can be called “pewter” and the laws governing the use of
pewter. We will discuss metals, how they are mined, what alloys are, and the lead-free pewter
that we use. Students will cast their own pewter hummingbirds and flower. Each hummingbird
has a ring on it between the wings for hanging as an ornament. Each participant will cast and
keep two hummingbirds and a flower. One as an ornament and one that the beak can be placed
into the flower to make a beautiful sculpture! The pewter that we cast is lead free “American
Fine” pewter. Participants will “pour” this pewter directly in to solid rubber molds. After a few
minutes to allow them to freeze, students will remove their pewter sculptures. After cooling the
sculptures students will be taught how to cut the sprues off, grind and clean up the sculptures.

Pine Needle Casting PendantAugust 30, 2:00pm - 5:00pm (ALREADY PAST)See Other DatesMetal Clay Class By Greg NorrisClass Fee: $110.00Kit Fee: $70.00 Kit will include one half ounce of Fine Silver, Sterling Silver wire for the bail. Students do not need to bring anything to the class.
Skill Level: All
This class is open to everyone of skill levels from a complete beginner to advanced Silversmiths that wish to make a successful business while having fun making Silver projects. Ages 12 and above are welcome.
Each participant will cast one Fine Silver (.999 Silver) pendant using a method that Don Norris perfect 40 years ago using a bundle of pine needles and pour one half ounce of Fine Silver into the “hay stack” of pine needles. The pine needles will act as a mold, molding the Silver into a one-of-a-kind pendant. No two will be the same. They will then search through the needles and find their pine needle casting. Students will be able to cast another one until they get one, they love. After casting, the instructor will solder a Sterling Silver bail onto the casting, making it into a beautiful pendant. Each pendant will be cleaned and tumbled polished. The soldering techniques used were developed by Don Norris over 50 years ago and will be explained by the instructor. The tumble polishing technique will also be taught to the students.

Soldered Wire Pendant with 5 mm stonesAugust 30, 2:00pm - 5:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Soldering Class By Donald NorrisClass Fee: $110.00Kit Fee: $70.00 Kit will include all Sterling Silver, Hard Silver Solder, pre-notched Sterling Silver heads and all tools and supplies will be included for the class. Students do not need to bring anything to the class.
Skill Level: All
This class is open to everyone of skill levels from a complete beginner to advanced Silversmiths that wish to learn new techniques and skills for a more professional looking and profitable project. Students will also learn to work faster for more profits.
Students will taught how to quickly design, bend and solder using hard silver solder two
pendants and polishing. Students will use their own designs and construct them with 18
gauge round wire. They will require many solder joints for each pendant providing many
opportunities for soldering. The easiest and best way to solder a bail onto wire pendants
will be taught. They also learn how to correctly solder easy set Sterling Silver heads
onto their pendants for extra profits and fun. How to set 5mm stones into the heads will
be taught before polishing. Each student will make two Sterling Silver pendants during
the class and make as many copper pendants as time permits for more practice
soldering. You will, also, learn how to do the simplest, but the most difficult solder joint
used in Silversmithing, soldering on a bail onto a pendant. Many different bails will be
taught. You will learn that simple does not equate to easy, and complicated is not the
most difficult and the trick to profitable pieces is to make complicated designs quick and
easy. You will learn how to work quickly and use easy techniques to making your
projects. If you wish to sell at craft shows or art shows this class and project is a must do
for you! These are one of many projects that Don Norris teaches that fall in the category
of Sterling Silver projects that artists can make 50 of them in one day and easily sell
them for $30.00 to $50.00 each, making $20.00 to $40.00 each, or more profit on each
one. If just want to learn and make a great pendant for yourself you will have fun, and
learn how to easily make more projects at home.

Four Simple Projects, Using Your Scrap Sterling Silver, Fast, Easy, Low Cost, and Profitable!September 1, 2:00pm - 5:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Soldering Class By Donald NorrisClass Fee: $110.00Kit Fee: $80.00 Kit will include all Sterling Silver wire and sheet, Hard Silver Solder, Sterling Silver Snap Set heads, 5 mm faceted stones, and small Sterling Silver castings of their choice. Students do not need to bring anything to the class.
Skill Level: Beginner
A class perfect for accomplished Silversmiths and beginners, that wish to make a
profitable business. You will learn to make four very profitable, very easy, simple and
quick to make projects that will sell fast at craft shows, art galleries, and special events.
So fast, easy and simple that you will learn how to make up, and finish, up to 50 of these
four projects in one day. Even better is that you can still use your creative side to make
each one different enough to keep your interest in making them, and, more
importantly, different enough that your customers will be interested in shopping at your
display. You will be working with Sterling Silver wire and sheet, using simple soldering
techniques that even beginners with no experience can learn during this class. You will,
also, learn how to do the simplest, but the most difficult solder joint used in
Silversmithing, soldering on a bail onto a pendant. Many different bails will be taught.
You will learn that simple does not equate to easy, and complicated is not the most
difficult and the trick to profitable pieces is to make complicated designs quick and easy.
You will learn how to work quickly and use easy techniques to making your projects.
Polishing using a rock tumbler, steel shot and the correct burnishing compound will be
taught as the projects are being polished. Why tumble polishing? You will be taught that
you will be able to polish up to 50 of some of these projects in less than an hour, but
using only about 10 minutes of your time! We will also discuss how, when and where to
sell your finished profitable projects.
